Special Presentations and Announcements
The event kicked off with remarks from Dan Grossano, Pastoral Assistant for Outreach and Ministries at Little Flower, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of community collaboration. Following his introduction, Father JC Merino, Pastor of Little Flower, delivered a special Valentine’s Day performance that captivated the room. Before taking to the piano to share a heartfelt musical performance, Father JC reflected on his musical background and how his journey intertwined with his faith.
“I have been attending the Berkeley Heights Business & Civic networking meetings, and it’s a beautiful thing,” Father JC shared. “I was a musician before I became a priest. I played the piano, composed, and arranged for orchestras.” He went on to share a fascinating story about his early aspirations in music and his encounters with industry professionals before ultimately choosing the priesthood. His performances of “My Funny Valentine” and Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” added a heartfelt touch to the morning’s gathering.
Following the musical interlude, the room full of business and civic leaders introduced themselves, provided updates, and shared presentations. BHB&C Chairman Chris Wang took the opportunity to remind attendees of the early bird special available for those who commit to sponsoring the highly anticipated annual Summer Block Party, scheduled for June 8. The event showcases Berkeley Heights businesses, civic and charitable organizations, and a lineup of entertainment that is currently being booked to ensure a lively and engaging experience for the community.
