The annual block party, hosted by Berkeley Heights Business & Civic (BHB&C), returns to Springfield Avenue between Snyder and Plainfield avenues on Sunday, June 7, from noon to 4 p.m. The street closes to traffic at 10 a.m. to prepare for the festivities. With nearly 100 participating businesses and community organizations stretching up and down the avenue, this year’s event is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet.
The event is free for families from start to finish — rides, entertainment, activities and giveaways all included. The only thing to budget for is food, and there will be plenty of it.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better forecast for this Sunday’s Block Party! Our goal this year was to create an unforgettable day of non-stop fun and community spirit. All of our activities are 100% free to enjoy — we just want you to come out, have a blast, and bring some pocket money to sample the amazing food we’ll have lined up!” said Chris Wang, BHB&C Co-Chair.
The food lineup is one of the highlights of every block party, and this year is no exception. Local favorite Bubbakoos will be on-site, joined by a strong roster of food vendors. Additional options include Pizza Vita, Grain and Cane Food Truck, Woops Macarons, Grazi’s Kitchen, Patria Station Cafe, Craft Bagel, Milk Tea Boba, Blasted Lemonade, Palm Thai and a Jamaican food truck, among others. Those looking to cool off can visit one of two ice cream trucks on the avenue, or grab a specialty drink from Girly Pop Dirty Sodas. The Trap Rock beer garden, set up right across from the main entertainment stage, will be pouring throughout the afternoon.
